The 6 best OurGroceries alternatives in 2026.
OurGroceries has kept families' grocery lists in step for years: every feature is free, a change shows on every phone straight away, and it runs on iPhone, Android, Apple Watch, Wear OS, the web and Alexa. People look elsewhere when they want item prices, a login for each person instead of one shared account, recipes saved from websites, a list built from the week's meals, or no ads without paying. Here are six alternatives, and the kind of OurGroceries user each one suits.

How we chose
We make Hedgehog Chef, so it's first on this list: that's our bias, stated up front, and its cons are as honest as everyone else's. The other apps are in the order we'd suggest them for this job. Everything we say about them comes from their own websites, help pages and app-store listings, checked on November 2, 2026 and linked at the end, and each entry says who should pick it instead of ours. We left out store ratings, which change daily.
What we looked at:
- The shared list: a change on one phone shows on the others straight away
- Sorting in your store's order, and how items get on the list: typing, voice, barcodes, recipes, a meal plan
- One shared account for the household, or a login for each person
- Ads and tracking, and what removing them costs (OurGroceries: about $6 a year or $20 once for the household)
- Devices: phones, watches, the web and voice assistants
The apps
Our app
1. Hedgehog Chef
Best for a list built from the week's meals, with a login each
Hedgehog Chef keeps what OurGroceries does best, one list that changes on every phone straight away, in the aisle order you walk, and builds the week around it. Planned recipes go on the list in one tap, scaled to the servings you planned, merged (2 cups of milk plus 1 cup is 3 cups) and minus what's already in the pantry. Items carry grocery prices: live at Kroger-family stores in the US, community prices or labeled estimates elsewhere. Recipes are full recipes, saved from a link, a cookbook photo or a social post, and on the Family plan two people each sign in as themselves instead of sharing one account.
Moving your list over is quick: paste it in and each line becomes its own item. It costs more than OurGroceries, a kitchen holds 2 people at most, and there's no watch app or Alexa skill. Hedgehog Chef has no free plan: every kitchen starts with a 14-day free trial with everything included and no card, then it's $5.99/month or $49.99/year for one person (Individual), or $9.99/month or $83.99/year for two people (Family).
Pros
- The list sorts itself by aisle, merges amounts and skips what's already in the pantry
- A shared shopping list that updates on every phone instantly
- 2 people on Family, each with their own login
- Grocery prices on the plan and the list: live prices at Kroger-family stores, otherwise labeled estimates
- Imports from a link, a photo of a cookbook page or handwritten card, pasted text, or a TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or Pinterest link
- No ads and no trackers, on any plan
Cons
- No free plan: after the 14-day free trial it's $5.99/month or $49.99/year for one person (Individual), or $9.99/month or $83.99/year for two people (Family)
- At most 2 people in a kitchen (Family), while OurGroceries shares lists with the whole household
- No Apple Watch or Wear OS app and no Alexa skill (Siri works through Shortcuts you set up once)
- No App Store or Google Play app yet: it installs from the browser instead
- New: launched in 2026, so it doesn't have years of track record yet
- Platforms
- Any web browser, installable as an app on iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and Chromebook
- Price
- $5.99/month or $49.99/year for one person (Individual), or $9.99/month or $83.99/year for two people (Family)
- Without paying
- A 14-day free trial with everything, no card needed; no free plan after it
2. AnyList
Best for the closest swap, with a login for each person
AnyList is the nearest like-for-like move: a fast shared list that updates on everyone's phone, Siri and Alexa for adding items, and native apps on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and Apple Watch. Each person in the household has their own AnyList account. AnyList Complete, $9.99 a year for one person or $14.99 for a household, adds what OurGroceries doesn't have: item prices with a running total, recipe import from websites, a meal-planning calendar and the web app.
Without Complete there's no web app or meal planner, and only five web recipe imports. Its help center says that since March 2026 Alexa often puts items on Alexa's own list instead, until Amazon fixes it; saying “Alexa, open AnyList” first works around it.
Pros
- Each person has their own account
- Item prices, a meal-planning calendar and web recipe import with Complete
- Native apps, including Mac and Apple Watch
- $14.99 a year for the household
Cons
- The web app and meal planner need Complete
- Alexa often adds to Alexa's own list since March 2026, per its help center
- Only 5 web recipe imports without Complete
- Platforms
- iPhone, iPad and Android apps; the Mac app, Apple Watch and the web app need Complete
- Price
- AnyList Complete: $9.99/year for one person or $14.99/year for a household
- Without paying
- Shared lists and recipes, with 5 web recipe imports; meal planning needs Complete
3. Listonic
Best for a free list with price totals and an AI list builder
Listonic's free version covers most of what OurGroceries does and adds two things it lacks: item prices with a total for the shop, and an AI assistant that builds a list from a meal or occasion you describe, say aloud or photograph. Lists sync in real time with the people you invite, sort by aisle, category or alphabetically, and can be checked off and edited offline. It runs on iPhone, iPad, Android, Apple Watch and the web, and you can start without an account.
It shows ads unless you buy Premium, whose App Store prices vary from plan to plan, and its App Store label lists location and identifiers among the data used to track you. We couldn't find an Alexa skill, a Wear OS app or a recipe box.
Pros
- Item prices and a total, free
- An AI list builder on the free tier
- Offline editing that syncs later
- No account needed to start
Cons
- Ads unless you buy Premium
- A broad tracking label on iOS
- No Alexa skill, Wear OS app or recipe box found
- Platforms
- iPhone, Android, Apple Watch, the web, Windows and Mac
- Price
- Premium removes ads and adds themes; App Store prices vary by plan
- Without paying
- Lists, real-time sharing and the AI list builder, with ads
4. Bring!
Best for shoppers in German-speaking Europe
Bring! has a friendly tile-style list, real-time sharing and an order you can set to match your supermarket's aisles. It saves recipes from the web and adds their ingredients to the list in a tap, and its local brochures and offers (which its site lists for Germany, Switzerland, Austria and France) and loyalty-card wallet make it more than a list. It runs on iPhone, Android, Apple Watch, Wear OS and a basic web app.
The free app shows ads; Premium is $1.99 a month or $8.99 a year, and there's no family Premium yet. If you add items by voice, note that Alexa needs the Bring! skill opened first and doesn't sync in real time, and Google Assistant no longer works with it.
Pros
- A pleasant tile-style list in your store's order
- Web recipes to the list in a tap
- Local offers and a loyalty-card wallet
- Apple Watch, Wear OS and a web app
Cons
- Ads and retailer offers are central
- Alexa needs the skill opened first; Google Assistant is gone
- No meal-plan calendar or barcode scanning found
- No family Premium
- Platforms
- iPhone, Android, Apple Watch, Wear OS and a basic web app
- Price
- Bring! Premium: $1.99/month or $8.99/year in the App Store
- Without paying
- Lists, sharing, recipes and offers, with ads
5. Apple Reminders
Best for a free list with no ads, when everyone's on Apple
If everyone at home has an iPhone, the grocery list may already be on it. Since iOS 17, a Reminders list can be a Groceries list that files items into sections like produce and frozen foods as you add them; move an item once and the list remembers. Share it with other iCloud users and everyone can add and check off items and sees the changes in real time, on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and iCloud.com.
It's free, with no ads, but it's a list and nothing more: Apple's pages describe no recipes, barcode scanning or prices, and the people you share with need iCloud, so it's no help for someone on Android. OurGroceries' own FAQ says that since iOS 16.4, Siri often adds items to Apple Reminders instead of OurGroceries.
Pros
- Free and built in, with no ads
- Groceries lists sort themselves into sections (iOS 17 and later)
- Real-time sharing with other iCloud users
- iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and iCloud.com
Cons
- Everyone you share with needs iCloud
- Just a list: no recipes, barcodes or prices described
- Groceries lists need iOS 17 or later
- Platforms
- iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, and iCloud.com in a browser
- Price
- Free, built into Apple devices
- Without paying
- Everything; grocery lists and sharing need iCloud
6. Out of Milk
Best for a free list with a pantry list beside it
Out of Milk keeps a shopping list, a pantry list and to-do lists, and moves items between the pantry and the shopping list. Like OurGroceries it has a barcode scanner, store-ordered categories and free sharing, and it adds a price per item with running and grand totals. It's on iPhone, iPad, Android and the web.
It's owned by InMarket, an advertising company, and its App Store label lists eight kinds of data used to track you. We couldn't find recipes, meal planning, a watch app or voice-assistant support, and its Premium purchases aren't described.
Pros
- A pantry list that feeds the shopping list
- Barcode scanning and price totals
- Free sharing and a web version
Cons
- Owned by an ad-tech company, with broad tracking on iOS
- No recipes, meal planning or watch app found
- Premium's contents aren't described
- Platforms
- iPhone, Android and the web
- Price
- Free; the App Store also sells a Premium whose contents aren't described
- Without paying
- Shopping, pantry and to-do lists with sharing, with ads
How to choose
If OurGroceries works and only the ads bother you, the simplest fix is its own upgrade: about $6 a year or $20 once removes them for everyone you share with. It also reaches more kinds of device than most, Wear OS and Alexa included. If you want more than a list, decide what “more” means.
For a list that fills itself from the week's meals, with the pantry taken into account, that's what Hedgehog Chef is built for; our guide to sharing a grocery list shows how it works. For the most polished list with a login each and item prices for $14.99 a year, AnyList. For the strongest free list, Listonic; in German-speaking Europe, Bring!; and if everyone is on Apple and a list is all you need, Apple Reminders costs nothing.
Before you switch, export from OurGroceries' website: your lists, recipes and categories come as a spreadsheet and a JSON file. Copy the items from the spreadsheet and paste them into the new app's list; Hedgehog Chef turns each pasted line into its own item. Then do the real test, a shop together: two phones, one list, and someone checking things off in the store. Our round-up of shared grocery list apps compares the field more broadly.
What we say about OurGroceries comes from its FAQ, user guide and App Store listing, read on November 2, 2026. OurGroceries is a trademark of OurGroceries, Inc., which isn't affiliated with us.
Questions
Is OurGroceries free?
Yes. Every feature is in the free version, with ads at the bottom of the screen. An upgrade removes the ads for everyone who shares your lists: about $1 a month or $6 a year (with a 7-day trial), or $20 once.
Does OurGroceries have a meal planner?
We couldn't find one. Its recipes are a list of ingredients and notes that you can add to the shopping list in a tap, and its user guide doesn't mention meal planning. Hedgehog Chef and AnyList (with Complete) have meal-planning calendars.
Can each person have their own login?
Not in OurGroceries: its user guide says to choose a single email address for the household, and everyone enters it in their copy of the app. AnyList gives each household member their own account, Hedgehog Chef's Family plan gives 2 people their own logins, and Listonic and Apple Reminders share lists between people's own accounts.
Which OurGroceries alternative works with Alexa?
AnyList has an Alexa skill, though its help center says Alexa has often added items to its own list since March 2026; opening the skill first (“Alexa, open AnyList”) works around it. Bring!'s skill also has to be opened first. Hedgehog Chef has no Alexa skill; it works with Siri through Apple Shortcuts. OurGroceries' own skill still works, though its FAQ reports a bug with Alexa+ on Amazon's side.
Which OurGroceries alternative shows prices?
OurGroceries lists price tracking as a future update. Listonic (free) and Out of Milk let you add prices and see a total, and AnyList Complete adds prices with a running total. Hedgehog Chef shows grocery prices on the list and the plan: live at Kroger-family stores in the US, community prices or labeled estimates elsewhere.
